The Classic Regency Side Chair
Model: CH-E The Classic Regency Chair dining or desk chair is copied from an 1810 original in the manner of Thomas Hope, and made by B. Harmer. Made entirely of solid rosewood, these chairs should last as long as the originals.... The gracefully curved tablet back has a recessed and ebonized Greek key motif. This recessed detailing continues on the side and sabre legs, and are additionally embellished with ebonised paterae. A saddle seat completes the classic look to this quintessentially Regency chair. B Harmer is a largely unknown maker of the English Georgian period. He is mysterious even to furniture historians, as there is very little surviving documentation about him. In fact, it is not even certain what The B. stands for. He is known to have worked for the Company Marsh and Tatham. Now, he is principally remembered for the magnificent drawing Room suite for Powderham Castle, and also for his work based on the designs of Thomas Hope. He also made the well documented dining chairs for William Shepherd (d.1815) of Russell Square, London. These were sold by Christies Auctioneers in July 2000

With the typical yoke rails, carved "ears" and the intricately carved back splat, this Provincial Chippendale chair has all the hallmarks of having been originally inspired by Thomas Chippendale's pattern book.
This is entitled "The Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker's Director" and was first published in 1754.
The Classic Chair Company has replicated every nuance of this very fine chair and our expert carvers have faithfully reproduced the wonderful back splat exactly. The drop-in seat is both comfortable and easily re-upholstered when necessary.
We loved this chair so much, we used it as our logo.

...is a 12th century castle belonging to the 9th Earl of Devon, in the south of England. The castle is famous world wide as the setting for the film "The Remains of the Day". The carving on the Powderham Castle chair includes unusual acanthus scrolls on the shoulders, with rosette finials to the sides, and these are also echoed round the tops of the legs. The seat frame is stylish as well, with bundled reeds tied with crossed ribbons, and, of course, the famous dolphins. These were the crest of the Earl's family. The luxurious feather and down cushion adds to its comfort and durability. Historical note: B. Harmer is a largely unknown maker of the English Georgian period. He is a mystery figure, even to furniture historians, as there is very little surviving documentation about him. In fact, it is not even certain what The B. stands for. Classic Prince of Wales Feather Elbow Chair
The Classic Prince of Wales Feather Chair is named because of the carved motif of the three curled ostrich feathers.
The three curled ostrich feathers that form the traditional crest of the Prince of Wales were a favoured ornamental motif in the late 18th and early 19th centuries when their incorporation on pieces for furniture served as a kind of homage to the future King George IV.
This charming design is carved on the back of this superb dining chair. It is shown here with the exact nail head swag drape trim of the original chair, copied right down to precisely the same number of brass nails!
This particular chair is very similar to a design of 1787 in George Hepplewhite’s pattern book. “The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer’s Guide“, published in London in 1794.

Medusa head sculpture
Medusa head sculpture.
In Greek mythology, Medusa (Μέδουσα "guardian, protectress"), also called Gorgo, was one of the three monstrous Gorgons generally described as winged human females with living venomous snakes in place of hair. Those who gazed into her eyes would turn to stone. Medusa was beheaded by the Greek hero Perseus. There are many, many stories about her abilities, her life and her attributes.
She is most widely recognised today as the logo used by Versace. (The Versace siblings played in some ruins where the Medusa was depicted in the mosaic floor, near Reggio Calabria, in Italy Gianni Versace chose her as the logo because she made people fall in love with her, they had no way back.) Difficult, of course, once they had looked into her eyes and turned into stone.
