The Classic Prince of Wales Feather Chair is named because of the carved motif of the three curled ostrich feathers. This was the emblem of the then future King George IV.
This particular chair is very similar to a design of 1787 in George Hepplewhite’s pattern book. “The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer’s Guide“, published in London in 1794.
